Xur returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. It’s been a big week for Destiny 2 fans as the game received a double dose of content with the Lightfall expansion as well as the launch of Season of Defiance. Needless to say, there’s a whole host of new content, quests, and loot to hunt down as well as work on the Season 20 battle pass.
With a new one Destiny 2 expansion also comes new exotics. Season Pass owners get instant access to a new Stasis-powered bow called the Verglas Curve, though Lightfall has also added plenty of gear to acquire as well. Deterministic Chaos is a machine gun that can detonate targets, Winterbite is a stationary glaive that fires frozen orbs, and there are several new pieces of armor like Cyrtarachne’s Facade, Swarmers, and more.
Speaking of loot, the exotic merchant Xur makes his first appearance in the Lightfall edition Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his latest weekend location, exotic crypto quest news, and a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he brought for the weekend of March 3rd, 2023.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, players can track Xur back in the European Dead Zone at his usual spot overlooking the winding cove.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head to the back where the Fallen usually patrol. Climb the rocks back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not far from a crashed ship.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second Fatal Literal, but they are necessary to obtain legacy exotic equipment from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new crypto by completing hits and winning smelter or gambit matches. Earn bonus points for playing with clan friends or completing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside of his usual content. In addition to his regular exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Claws of Ahamkara – Warlock Gloves
Subcategory neutral nails are back on sale this weekend. His exotic perk is known as The Whispers, which gives the player a second melee charge.
.
This isn’t exactly a necessary exotic for Warlocks, as there are far better options available, but there are plenty of worse options as well. For a neutral exotic that can be used with any subclass, having a second melee attack on hand certainly helps in most cases. The roll is also tied for the highest roll this week, though with an extremely high stat level, it’s not exactly the best for Warlocks.
Stat Values (65 Total):
- Mobility +10
- Endurance +10
- Recovery +13
- Discipline +7
- Intellect +2
- Strength +23
Knucklehead Radar – Hunter Helmet
Just seen a few weeks ago, the Knucklehead Radar is back in stock this weekend for Hunters. It’s still a staple for PvP modes in the Crucible thanks to the upgraded sensor pack that boosts the player’s radar when crouched and keeps it on screen when aiming down.
Useful is the best term to describe this exotic, as it’s not the best option out there for Hunters, but it can be valuable in the right situations. Knowing where enemies are coming from, even when aiming sights can be useful in the Crucible, though overall there are better options. With a total of 65 stats for this week, players get a boost in mobility, discipline and durability.
Stat Values (65 Total):
- Mobility +17
- Durability +13
- Recovery +2
- Discipline +19
- Intellect +6
- Strength +8
Synthoceps – Titan leg armor
Synthoceps has Biotic Enhancements, the item’s native perk, which not only smooths out combat range, but also damage when the player is surrounded by enemies. Similar to Hunter’s Liar’s Handshake exotic gloves, this item can make Titan players very strong.
While it may not be the best Titan exotic, it is undoubtedly fun to play with especially in this current season. Similar to the Warlock exotic Felwinter’s Helm, many of the seasonal mods and Warmind Cells can deal room clearing damage when paired with this gear. Ultimately, it’s not a necessary purchase by any means, though it might be worth it for those who want to mess around and have fun. The roll is solid this week, finally breaking the streak Mobility Titan exotics unfortunately continued with Xur. It is only a 62, so this product should not be bought under any circumstances.
Statistical Values (62 in total):
- Mobility +2
- Durability +17
- Recovery +14
- Discipline +17
- Intellect +2
- Strength +10
Exotic weapon
This electrically charged bow fires an arrow that splits into three parts thanks to its Split Electron perk. When the player points down the sights and draws the bow all the way, the spread of the arrow is reduced. However, scoring a headshot will charge the next arrow to chain electricity between enemies that are close to each other. It’s generally a fun bow to use in any mode, though it really shines in PvE modes where chain attacks have more of a chance to happen.
Although initially considered unstoppable, this bow becomes an absolute monster once players unlock the weapon’s trigger by completing any Crucible, Strike, or Gambit base activity that causes each final hit to trigger the Lightning Rod perk. Coupled with all the changes in arc 3.0, this is a great pickup this week.
Additional benefits:
- High tension string
- Solid arrow shaft
Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic quests, Xur is also selling Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized streams. Players should visit him every weekend as he will be carrying different rolls.
Hawkmoon Rolls:
- Corkscrew rifle
- Alloy Magazine
- Snapshot Attractions
- Multi-sided handle
Dead Man’s Tale Rolls:
- Full Bore
- Light Mag
- Snapshot Attractions
