The game’s Fractal update, released on all platforms in February, continued to build on the game’s existing mechanics while also bringing PS VR2 support, launching a new mission, and more.
Inevitably though, a plethora of new glitches and performance issues found their way into the game along with the Fractal update. As often follows in the wake of a major update on No Man’s Sky, the game’s community lit up social media with posts bringing attention to issues that largely consisted of bugs, visual glitches, and framerate drops across all platforms. The developers at Hello Games thankfully have a great track record of providing fixes for such issues post-release, and Hello Games founder Sean Murray posted a tweet earlier today detailing the fixes and improvements that come with the patch. Arriving just a week after the release of the Fractal update, patch 4.12 provides fixes for many of the issues players commonly encountered, including the “downloading data” bug that prevented many fans from starting the new mission.
Despite the developers’ continued dedication to No Man’s Sky, especially many veteran fans were not so happy with the game’s latest updates. Many in the game’s thriving community continue to yearn for certain features, arguing that Hello Games’ recent focus on campaign content and technical improvements detract from the game’s core appeal: its exploration.
